North Carolina State Energy Office Energy Efficiency Apprenticeship Program
NC SEO is seeking companies to participate in an energy efficiency apprenticeship program that will be piloted in the Guildford County area in 2021 with plans to expand to the full state of NC in the future
The State Energy Office is excited to announce a new opportunity available to organizations in the Guilford county area. Following guidance from the Clean Energy Plan, the State Energy Office has initiated development of an energy efficiency (EE) apprenticeship track within the statewide ApprenticeshipNC program. The EE track would complement existing energy related programs to help create a pipeline of skilled workers to contribute to the growth of the clean energy economy.
Recently, we have partnered with NC A&T University as well as Guilford Apprenticeship Partners to develop a program to be piloted in Guilford county next year and then replicated state-wide. Our initial focus is EE occupations in the construction industry (residential and commercial) such as weatherization, HVAC, electrician, energy installation services, and energy auditing; however, we are interested is cross-sector approaches to EE as well.
We are looking to gain the involvement of organizations with locations in the Guilford county area to assist with program development and host apprentices. Currently we are seeking both organizations that serve Guilford County for our 2021 pilot program and those interested in our state-wide effort.
If your organization may be interested in participating or learning more, please contact me at or Dr. Greg Monty at . Due to the summer 2021 launch date, we are eager to discuss this opportunity as soon as possible.
Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you,
Danielle Costantini
